CROSSMARK Lends a Hand to Local Women’s Shelter

PLANO, TEXAS, September 23, 2015 – Recently the CROSSMARK Network of Women (NOW) coordinated a week long donation drive to benefit Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The drive was a huge success largely in part to the generosity of the CROSSMARK employees and the coordination of resources by CROSSMARK NOW members.

Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support provides shelter, safety, counseling and expert services to battered women and their children. This year marked a milestone for the shelter as it celebrated its 30th anniversary serving Dallas area women and children that have become victims of domestic violence.

The largest source of funding for the shelter is through the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store. CROSSMARK NOW collected donations of clothing, housewares, toys, and other items to be sold to raise money for the thrift store to help support the shelter. “We are forever grateful to you all for having thought about the needs of our ladies and children. All of our ladies get to shop free-of-charge at our Benefit Thrift Store so you all have contributed to the life-changing journey these ladies are beginning; that is, a lifestyle free of violence.” said Cristy Lopez, Outreach Office Coordinator, Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support.

This year Genesis will serve nearly 1,600 women and children throughout DFW.. “…because all services are provided at zero cost to our clients, we rely on the generous support of our community who make our mission possible. CROSSMARK’s donation of gently used items allows women to shop at no cost at the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store. In addition, all proceeds from purchases made by the community go back to supporting Genesis’ programs. It’s an absolute win-win for our clients!” said Bianca Jackson, Sr. Director, Fund & Community Development, Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support.

CROSSMARK extends a heartfelt thank you to all the employees who donated and coordinated the drive to benefit Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support.
